Tracy and Rachel welcome local children’s book author Ashley Flynn to the podcast for a conversation about her experiences balancing multiple career opportunities with her growing family, a journey that led to the inspiration for her first book, My Favorite Job is You, a love letter to mothers everywhere. Ashley discusses the creative ways she carved out time in her busy schedule to write and shares the ways her priorities have shifted over the years. Tracy and Rachel marvel over Ashley’s postpartum superpower of rhyming, while Ashley changes everyone’s lives by introducing them to The Nap Dress.

Episode Mentions:

Ashley's love for writing and poetry was ignited after the birth of her first child. Nina Rose did not require much sleep, but did require much rocking. Many poems and story ideas flooded Ashley's tired mind while rocking her daughter to sleep. Ashley feels most inspired with her babies in her arms.

Before becoming a children's book author, Ashley worked in the high-stakes world of political fundraising. Balancing a career she was passionate about with motherhood led Ashley to the idea for her first book, My Favorite Job Is You.

In addition to Nina Rose (who is now 5), Ashley and her husband, Colby, also have a wild and sweet 2.5 year old son named Beau Dexter, and are expecting their third child (another girl) in the coming weeks. Lastly, the family enjoys their under-achieving (but luckily adorable) dog, Stewart.
